New Jersey Devils forward Timo Meier will undergo elective arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder, the team said Tuesday.

Meier is expected to recover in time for training camp for next season.

The 27-year-old from Herisau, Switzerland, recorded 52 points (28 goals and 24 assists) in 69 games. He also dealt with double MCL injuries and an oblique injury during the year.

New Jersey missed the playoffs, finishing with 81 points (38-39-5), 10 points back of the Washington Capitals for the final wild-card spot.

Meier has 382 points (191 goals and 191 assists) in 541 career games over eight seasons with the San Jose Sharks and Devils.
