After going 0-for-4 on Tuesday night, Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider continued to slide shortstop Bo Bichette down the lineup ahead of Wednesday’s game.

With the Blue Jays set to square off against the Philadelphia Phillies in the series finale, Toronto once again made some adjustments to its batting order.

Outfielder Daulton Varsho was moved up to the two-hole, a spot he’s only held 16 times in his career, Bichette was moved down to the six-spot and catcher Danny Jansen will hit fifth.

Bichette was dropped to fifth in the order on Saturday against the Washington Nationals, but moved back up to hit cleanup in Toronto’s next two games.

The two-time All-Star hasn’t hit lower than fifth in the Blue Jays lineup since Aug. 26, 2022, when he hit seventh against the Los Angeles Angels.

His early season struggles in 2024 have brought his slash line to .189/.246/.268 with just seven extra-base hits through 33 games.

Jansen went 2-for-3 with a double in Tuesday’s 10-1 loss to the Phillies, increasing his batting average on the season to .325 and OPS to 1.126.

Varsho has hit second once for Toronto, going 0-for-3 on May 25, 2023 against the Tampa Bay Rays.

You can watch as the Blue Jays send Chris Bassitt to the mound, looking to get back on track against Aaron Nola and the Phillies on Sportsnet or Sportsnet+. Coverage begins at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.
