Avalanche D Cale Makar suffers apparent injury vs. Kraken

Colorado Avalanche defenceman Cale Makar extended his season-opening 13-game point streak on Tuesday night, but was forced to leave the game against the Seattle Kraken after a non-contact injury while on the power play in the second period.

Makar did return to the ice in the third period, but once again, left after talking to the team trainer.

In his last shift before going to the locker room in the second frame, Makar appeared to injure his right leg while turning in the offensive end. He favoured the leg as he skated off the ice.

After the game, Avalance coach David Bednar said he didn’t have an update on Makar’s status, offering that the 26-year-old “tweaked something,” per The Denver Post‘s Corey Masisak.

Before suffering the injury, the former Norris Trophy winner tallied two assists, helping Colorado on its way to a 6-3 win over Seattle.

The two helpers gave him 18 on the season, bringing his point total through 13 games to 23.

Tuesday’s win lifted Colorado to a 6-7 record on the season.
