Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Double XP Weekend Extended Beyond Today

This past weekend’s big events for Call of Duty: Black Ops — the return of the Nuketown map, double XP, double weapon XP and double GobbleGums — were supposed to wrap up today, but Black Ops 6 players will have at least until tomorrow to rack up more double XP.

A multiplayer playlist featuring only Nuketown went live on Nov. 1 in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, alongside double XP, double weapon XP and double GobbleGums. The Double XP period was supposed to end at 1 p.m. ET today, but due to a technical glitch on Friday night that impacted XP for some players, Black Ops 6 developer Treyarch announced Saturday that the Double XP period would be extended to Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. ET.

Activision and the Black Ops 6 studio Treyarch rolled out the Nuketown multiplayer map — which was inspired by a scene in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and which always ends with a nuclear blast — as part of its week-after-release content drops. A video trailer is out for the map showing off the improved visuals (and the end-of-match blast). The map has also been featured before in Call of Duty: Online and Call of Duty: Mobile.

The other big drop, which is also available now, is Infected mode. In it, one player is randomly assigned as infected and must eliminate other players and bring them to their side. A big change to that mode from previous games, the studio says, is that it features Omnimovement, which allows players to dive and run in all directions.

Nuketown has returned with new visuals as a free multiplayer map, set on a nuclear test site in Nevada.

Black Ops 6, announced back in May, was released on Oct. 25 and takes place in 1991, following a group of rogue operatives tracking down a covert force called Pantheon. It’s available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC and is also part of Microsoft’s Game Pass service.

The advent of the latest Call of Duty has been massive. In fact, the game’s prelaunch alone accounted for 19% of all Comcast traffic, which should shine a light at how huge this game’s debut has been for fans.

In its post about Nuketown and Infected mode, Activision also teased Season 1, the battle pass out on Nov. 14. It will include new multiplayer maps and modes, a new in-season Zombies map and improvements to Call of Duty: Warzone, the battle royale mode. Those improvements include Omnimovement and new weapons and loadout features, according to the post. Activision says more Season 1 news will be available at its Call of Duty blog.
