All-star goaltender Jeremy Swayman is nearing a return to the Boston Bruins.

For the second straight year, Swayman is a restricted free agent and, like last year, negotiations have not been easy. Complicating this summer’s talks was the team’s decision to trade away Swayman’s tandem partner, Linus Ullmark, essentially declaring Swayman their No. 1 netminder of the future.
In 44 games last season, Swayman had a 2.53 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage, with a 25-10-8 record and three shutouts. In 12 games through the Bruins’ playoff run, the 25-year-old netminder posted a .933 save percentage, but couldn’t carry his team past the second round.
Playing all four seasons of his NHL career with the Bruins, Swayman has a career .919 save percentage and a 2.34 goals-against average, with one assist. He won the William Jennings Trophy alongside Linus Ullmark in 2022-23.
Swayman was originally selected in the fourth round, 111th overall, of the 2017 NHL Draft by the Bruins.
