Golden Knights, Brayden McNabb nearing three-year extension

Defenceman Brayden McNabb is nearing an extension to stay in Vegas, with Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reporting that the deal will be close to three years with a $3 million AAV.

McNabb was set to hit unrestricted free agency after this season.

The 33-year-old was one of the original players to first don the Golden Knights uniform, joining the team from the Los Angeles Kings via the 2017 NHL expansion draft.

That inaugural group of players took up the name “The Misfits” and wore a chip on their shoulder as the outcasts of the NHL, filled with players that teams didn’t want to protect in the draft. However, from that original group, only McNabb, Shea Theodore and William Karlsson still remain. Theodore penned a seven-year, $52 million extension in October to stay in Vegas.

McNabb has tallied one goal and one assist in 16 games this season. He also has 36 blocked shots, 28 hits and a plus-11 plus-minus.

The Golden Knights (10-4-2) sit atop the Pacific Division. They take on the Utah Hockey Club on Friday night.
