Former president Jimmy Carter’s funeral services involved a few steps that led up to Thursday, Jan. 9. Following a funeral in his home state of Georgia Jan. 4, the 39th President of the United States’ casket arrived in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, Jan. 7 followed by a procession to the U.S. Capitol, the Rotunda service and the start of the lying in state.

ABC
“ABC News Live First” Jan. 9 will begin coverage with anchor Diane Macedo at 8 a.m. EST for the Capitol Hill procession. There will then be a simulcast of network-wide coverage. ABC News coverage has been available to watch on ABC News Live, Disney+ and Hulu.
CBS
Norah O’Donnell will anchor CBS News Special Reports on network and on CBS News 24/7 as the former president’s funeral service unfolds at the National Cathedral in D.C. She will also lead an afternoon special report on network and streaming to follow the Maranatha Baptist Church funeral service in Plains. GA and the internment at the Carter residence.

FOX
Fox Media’s coverage Jan. 9 will include America’s Newsroom’s Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino anchoring reports of President Carter’s State funeral starting at 9 a.m. ET.
MSNBC
Morning Joe will kick off MSNBC’s special coverage of the State Funeral for former President Jimmy Carter in D.C. Jan. 9. Co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mia Brzezinski will host from outside the Washington Cathedral, where the funeral service will be held. Journalist Andrea Mitchell, who interviewed Carter several times, will join them, and she will then be joined by anchors Ana Cabrera at 10 a.m. and later José Díaz-Balart at 11 a.m.
NewsNation
NewsNation’s coverage of the funeral begins as a special broadcast led by Leland Vittert from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET. Political editor and moderator of The Hill Sunday Chris Stirewalt and The Hill’s Blake Burman will also contribute, as will Washington correspondents Kellie Meyer and Joe Khalil.
