Blackhawks to place defenceman Seth Jones on IR due to foot injury

Chicago Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson told reporters Saturday that defenceman Seth Jones will be placed on the injured reserve due to a foot injury.

The 30-year-old has 10 points (two goals and eight assists) in 17 games this season. He is also a minus-five and is averaging 25:43 minutes in ice time.

Jones is in the third season of an eight-year contract extension carrying a $9.5-million cap hit.

Meanwhile, forward Taylor Hall will be a healthy scratch against the Vancouver Canucks. The 2010 first-overall draft pick has six points (two goals and four assists) in 17 games.

The Blackhawks (6-10-1) are have lost three of their past four games entering Saturday’s matchup against the Canucks.
