Three Predictions: Ole Miss’ hot streak, QBs on the move, Florida State

Rivals national recruiting analyst John Garcia Jr. has a trio of predictions on Ole Miss‘ recruiting hot streak, quarterbacks that may be on the move and more problems on the way for Florida State.

1. OLE MISS’ HOT STREAK WON’T END ANYTIME SOON

It was briefly Georgia Tech, after its win over Miami, but on Saturday afternoon Ole Miss became the talk of the college football and recruiting world with its win over No. 3 Georgia.

The Rebels’ domination on the field has already led to commitments in both the class of 2025 and 2026 as of Monday evening, but more are certainly on the way as Lane Kiffin suggested in addressing the media. The deeper into the week the buzz gets, the louder the commitments could come in for the Rebels – especially in the flip game. Anyone on social media saw blue-chip quarterback Deuce Knight on campus (more on him later), but the safer bet may be Caleb Cunningham. The in-state wide receiver and Alabama commitment is the top-ranked prospect in the state of Mississippi and some have felt he has always been Kiffin’s to lose.

With the program as hot as ever with a potential run in the College Football Playoff ahead, let’s call that shot.

2. QUARTERBACK DOMINOES ARE FAR FROM SETTLED

Deuce Knight is far from the only passer potentially looking at late movement before December. There is plenty of buzz on the Auburn commitment staying in the state, especially after celebrating with Rebel fans as they stormed the field on Saturday.

Florida State commitment Tramell Jones just saw a bulk of the coaches recruiting him get let go by Mike Norvell, and paired with Florida doubling down on Billy Napier with the Gators prioritizing him — it wouldn’t surprise to see each side ramp up communication at a minimum. In the meantime, the Seminoles have been working with other QB recruits about late trips, including former Michigan commitment Carter Smith, so flip momentum in multiple directions could be underway.

Of course the biggest potential flips are with the five-stars in Bryce Underwood and Julian Lewis, and word is at least one is going to shake up things with a change of heart.

With the dominoes in focus, let’s predict the most likely to move to the least likely: Jones, Lewis, Knight, Underwood.

3. THE WORST IS STILL AHEAD FOR FLORIDA STATE RECRUITING

While Florida State may look like it may trade one top-100 quarterback for another (Jones to Smith), there should be much more worry about the state of Norvell’s 2025 class.

The departure of Alex Atkins, in particular, hurts what was undoubtedly the strongest group on the commitment list – the offensive line. Mario Nash, Peyton Joseph and others have taken to social media to voice their displeasure about it, but it was the highest-ranked commitment in five-star Solomon Thomas on Monday with the most critical words for the program. Thomas followed it up with a message ending in #GoNoles but he has yet to comment on the record since the moves were made as LSU, Miami, Florida, South Carolina and others continue to communicate with the top-ranked guard in the class.

Departures from FSU’s commitment list, especially up front, already feel inevitable.
