Top-100 WR Tyreek King commits in-state to the Tennessee Vols

Tyreek King has locked in his college decision.

After visits to LSU, Texas A&M, Alabama and nearby to Rocky Top, the electric blue-chip playmaker from Knoxville committed to Tennessee.

King, the No. 18-ranked WR in the Rivals250 from Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic High, declared for the Vols over Alabama and Texas A&M on Thursday. Tennessee has been setting the pace in King’s recruitment for weeks into his junior campaign. He elected to cement his decision now.

“It was the right time for me,” King told Rivals of his decision to commit to the Volunteers. “Every time I visit Tennessee, the love and energy is always top tier.”

“Last week, I had a great time at Texas A&M but I have been waiting to commit,” he continued. I’ve been wanting to commit since my first-ever visit.”

Vols WR coach Kelsey Pope and head coach Josh Heupel have kept their foot on the gas with the hometown blue-chipper, who was back in Rocky Top for the thriller vs. Alabama earlier this month.

“I’m a hometown kid,” King said. “They’ve been recruiting me the hardest so far.”

“They’re letting me know I can help their offense out and showing me where I could be, telling me all types of great things,” he explained. “I like what they’re doing up there as well. All of the players told me to come on and asked ‘What am I waiting for?'”

King is no stranger to Rocky Top and has been there far and away more than any other school.

The comfort level in Knoxville was unrivaled as he locked in his commitment.

“Every time I go up there, it’s love,” King continued on Tennessee. “They show me so much attention and make sure to do that, and everyone wants that attention from college coaches. They just … they make me feel welcome, they make me feel like this is my home. I like what they’re doing.”
