Lakers’ Bronny James scores 17 points in blowout pre-season loss to Warriors

For the first time this pre-season, Bronny James reached double-digit points.

The Los Angeles Lakers rookie put up 17 points on 7-of-17 from the field and cashed in his first three-point make of the pre-season in a 132-74 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Friday.

James, son of Lakers forward LeBron James, played 35 minutes, which is by far the most he’s seen in these exhibition contests with his previous high sitting at 17 minutes in Thursday’s win against the Suns.

The USC product also grabbed four rebounds and dished out an assist, but due to the lopsided defeat he registered a minus-37 on the game.

Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga led his team in scoring, pouring in 17 points in 18 minutes on efficient 7-of-11 shooting from the field.

James was selected in the second round (55th overall) in the 2024 NBA Draft, and after struggling early in the Summer League he found his footing in his final two appearances.

The Lakers open up the regular season next Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
