Asked if he has clarity on what goaltender interference actually is, Knoblauch acknowledged he was confused in the aftermath of different calls in two separate games on Tuesday.

“Well, I saw the goal that got disallowed today in the Vancouver game, I thought that was very similar (to Michkov’s goal),” Knoblauch said after the Oilers’ 4-3 overtime win, Edmonton’s first victory of the season.
“I guess to answer your question (on if he understands the definition of goaltender interference), no I don’t.”
Eyssimont’s goal was disallowed after he whacked the puck past Canucks goalie Arturs Silovs.
Michkov’s goal looked much the same way with the Flyers rookie banging away before squeezing the puck behind Stuart Skinner. The original call was no-goal on the ice because the refs couldn’t determine if the puck crossed the goal line, but a review determined it was a goal. The Oilers’ challenge then was unsuccessful.

The Oilers got more bad luck with goaltender interference later when Evan Bouchard thought he had scored a goal to cut an early 2-0 deficit in half. But the officials quickly waved off the goal, citing goaltender interference against Zach Hyman. In that case, Hyman made contact with Flyers goaltender Samuel Ersson’s glove while crossing through the crease.
Knoblauch said afterward he expected there to be some communication between the Oilers and the league, adding that GM Stan Bowman “will get some clarity.”
