When it comes to wireless speakers, there are only a handful I would call truly iconic, and the storied Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin is one. If you’re a fan of the brand, you will be happy to hear that the company has updated its speaker to what is now called the Zeppelin Pro.
The Pro features the same stereo design as before, upgraded with titanium dome tweeters at each end, paired with 90mm FST midrange drivers. The middle of the unit features a 150mm “subwoofer” mounted to reduce vibration and physical movement of the cabinet.
The cabinet is 8.3 inches high by 25.6 inches wide by 7.6 inches deep. The speaker comes in two new finishes – Solar Gold and Space Grey – together with a revised, dimmable downlight with a choice over 15 separate colors.
The speaker offers plenty of connection options, including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It also supports the company’s own Formation system, plus AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect.
The Zeppelin helped create the high-end wireless speaker category, and B&W now has a lot more competition than when it debuted, though the speakers’ distinctive looks and “all-in-one” sound should help them stand above the pack.
The Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Pro ($799) is available from today.
