JUCO Rumor Mill: Junior College recruiting beginning to heat up
The initial junior college rankings were released late last week and many of the top players that made the list have some interesting recruitments going on. Here’s the latest in the Rumor Mill from Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney.

Five programs are making the biggest run at the three-star cornerback from Senatobia (Miss.) Northwest Mississippi CC in Texas State, ULM, Utah State, Old Dominion and Ohio so far.
Texas Tech, Mississippi State and Georgia are the three to watch for the Athens (Texas) Trinity Valley CC standout. The three-star defensive tackle has not scheduled any visits yet but those three are the top teams possibly in that order.
There are a bunch of programs making a big impression on Blanton but none are from the Power Four conferences yet.
The three-star receiver from Summit (Miss.) Southwest Mississippi CC has Troy, South Alabama, ULM, Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, UTEP, Colorado, Southern Miss and Jacksonville State on the list.
Oklahoma State is the one to watch most in Bogar’s recruitment but UNLV, Coastal Carolina and Cal are also in regular contact with the three-star defensive end from Riverside (Calif.) Riverside City College.
Michigan State has also been reaching out to Bogar’s coaches but he hasn’t talked with the Spartans yet. A visit to Stillwater could happen in late November.
A former four-star who signed with Tennessee in the 2023 class, Bradley headed to Hutchinson (Kan.) Hutchinson CC and now has another group of top schools.
Kansas, Temple, Memphis, Texas State and Oklahoma State are the teams to watch as he’s looking to book trips in the coming weeks.
Houston, North Texas and Western Kentucky have been the most involved with the Senatobia (Miss.) Northwest CC defensive end who visited with the Hilltoppers over the weekend.
Burgess’ only other visit is to Houston in late November and then Boise State has started to reach out some as well.
With nearly 20 offers, Boise State could be the team to watch most in Coleman’s recruitment. The three-star defensive tackle from Senatobia (Miss.) Northwest Mississippi CC visited with the Broncos for their big win over Utah State this weekend and they could be the front-runner now.
The Senatobia (Miss.) Northwest CC three-star cornerback has more than 40 offers but so far Toledo, UConn and UTSA have gotten visits from Davila and he was at Boise State over the weekend. Next weekend, Davila will be at Michigan State.
Washington State, SMU, Memphis, UCF and many others are involved too.
Texas State, Tulsa and North Texas have been the most involved with Green but Maryland and Kansas State have been reaching out to the three-star cornerback from Hutchinson (Kan.) Hutchinson CC although neither has offered yet.
A visit to Tulsa is coming up later this season but other than that Green’s calendar is open.
Three programs are the most involved with the Ellisville (Miss.) Jones College three-star offensive tackle with UTSA, South Florida and Houston leading the way.
The Bulls could take the lead in his recruitment since Grimme is visiting with them this weekend.
The three-star linebacker from Wesson (Miss.) Copiah-Lincoln CC has been committed to Mississippi State since June but many others are trying to flip him. James has been hearing from Alabama, Illinois, NC State, Memphis and others.
No visits are set up for the three-star offensive lineman from Senatobia (Miss.) Northwest Mississippi CC but Georgia State, Western Kentucky, Liberty and Marshall have been showing the most interest so far.
Boise State, Utah State, North Texas and South Alabama have been the four main contenders for the three-star defensive tackle from Hutchinson (Kan.) Hutchinson CC. UAB is another to watch with McGinney, whose first official visit is planned for Boise State in early November as no other trips are planned yet.
The three-star cornerback from Tyler (Texas) Tyler JC has been committed to Houston since late May but others are making a push. Lawton is hearing from Memphis, Boise State and Iowa State so far although no visits are planned yet.
The former Liberty commit who’s No. 1 in the junior college rankings at this point has Georgia, South Carolina, Houston, UTSA, Liberty and Troy involved the most in his recruitment.
The four-star defensive tackle from Ellisville (Miss.) Jones College has a trip coming up to South Carolina in the first weekend of November.
The three-star offensive tackle from Raymond (Miss.) Hinds CC committed to Troy in late September so the Trojans are clearly standing out the most but many others are making a push as well.
West Virginia, Memphis, Houston and Georgia State and a trip to Memphis should be happening soon.
A bunch of programs are vying for the three-star linebacker from San Mateo (Calif.) College of San Mateo with Penn State, Mississippi State, Cal, West Virginia and Boise State standing out most. A big visit is coming to Morgantown this weekend when the Mountaineers host Iowa State and then others should happen as well.
Houston, Washington State, Troy, ULM, UNLV and UTSA are the standouts for the three-star defensive end from Poplarville (Miss.) Pearl River CC.
A trip is coming up to Pullman in late November and Prim is also expected to visit Troy as well.
No favorites have emerged yet but Shumpert has UTSA, Liberty, South Alabama, Memphis and Tulane most involved in his recruitment now. No visits are scheduled yet for the three-star offensive tackle from Senatobia (Miss.) Northwest Mississippi CC.
