New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner exited Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings after being evaluated for a head injury, the team announced.
The incident occurred in the third quarter with the Jets on defence. After the snap, Gardner was guarding Vikings receiver Jordan Addison and while trailing him on his route, collided with teammate linebacker Quincy Williams.
Gardner stayed down on the field for some time before eventually coming off the field under his own weight to head back to the team’s locker room.
The 24-year-old two-time All-Pro has been in a slump this season, allowing a 68.8 per cent completion rate and 168 yards through four games. He’s also allowing a 124.0 QB rating on passes that target him.
The Jets went into Sunday’s game in London, England, against the Vikings with a 2-2 record but have allowed the fifth least points against this season.
