Flames’ Sharangovich exits vs. Jets after awkward fall

The Calgary Flames were four minutes away from escaping the pre-season without any major injury concerns.

However, with four minutes remaining in the third period of their pre-season finale against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday, forward Yegor Sharangovich exited the game after an awkward fall.

Sharangovich appeared shaken up after Jets forward Vladislav Namestnikov fell onto his right leg near the boards. The Flames forward did not play for the remainder of the period.

After the game, Flames head coach Ryan Huska told reporters he didn’t have an update on Sharangovich because of how late the collision occurred.

The Flames signed the 26-year-old Sharangovich to a five-year, $28.75-million extension this off-season after he had a breakout season in 2023-24.

In his first full season in Calgary, Sharangovich recorded 31 goals and 28 assists for 59 points — all career highs.
