Right-handed pitcher Ryan Burr will open on the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays in their season finale Sunday against the Miami Marlins.
Watch live on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ with the first pitch scheduled for 3:07 p.m. ET / 12:07 p.m. PT.
The Blue Jays acquired Burr from the Philadelphia Phillies in May. The 30-year-old has made 33 appearances, including three starts, and holds a 0-1 record, 3.69 ERA and 46 strikeouts over 31.2 innings with Toronto.
Slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will bat in the leadoff spot as he looks to reach the 200-hit plateau. Guerrero, who is one hit shy of 200, could become the first Blue Jays player to reach the milestone since Vernon Wells collected a team-record 215 hits in 2003.
He went 0 for 4 with a strikeout during Saturday’s 8-1 loss.
The Marlins plan to send Ryan Weathers (4-6, 3.81 ERA) to the mound as they look to wrap up the season with a three-game sweep.
Weathers won his most recent start this past Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins. The 24-year-old left-hander allowed one run on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts over five innings during the 4-1 victory.
Toronto (74-87) will finish the season last in the American League East regardless of Sunday’s outcome. Miami (61-100) is also locked into the final spot in the National League East.
