Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman limps off field after twisting ankle running bases

The Los Angeles Dodgers are holding their breath after a key star left injured Thursday night.

Freddie Freeman limped off the field after twisting his ankle while trying to avoid a tag at first base in a game against the Padres. Freeman’s right leg twisted awkwardly on the play and he was down on the field for a couple of minutes before he was able to walk slowly back to the dugout.

The first baseman was 1-for-4 in the game with a double.

With a win, the Dodgers would clinch the NL West title.
