Inside Out 2 — the highest-grossing animated movie of all time — is finally coming to streaming. The smash hit sequel will premiere on Disney Plus on this month.
From Disney and Pixar, Inside Out 2 continues the story of the 2015 ground-breaking original. The sequel returns to Riley’s mind as she ventures into her teenage years. The headquarters, which houses her Emotions, undergoes a renovation of sorts as Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment and Ennui enter the picture.
Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust have their work cut out for them. Not only do they have to contend with Riley’s evolving turmoil, but now their tight-knit team has to figure out how to work with these moody newcomers.
Amy Poehler returns as the voice of Joy. She is joined by Maya Hawk (who plays Anxiety), Ayo Edebiri (who plays Envy), Tony Hale (who plays Fear), Lewis Black (who plays Anger), Phyllis Smith (who plays Sadness), Liza Lapira (who plays Disgust), Paul Walter Hauser (who plays Embarrassment) and Adèle Exarchopoulos (who plays Ennui)
CNET’s Meara Isenberg reviewed Inside Out 2 when it first hit theaters, calling it a “well-earned sequel” with “effective humor, incredible animation and a willingness to explore a relevant new message.”
The streaming premiere of Inside Out 2 comes in time for Disney Plus’s new deal. Now through Sept. 27, new and returning customers can sign up for the streamer’s Basic plan for only $2 a month for three months — a $6 drop from the standard $8 a month price tag. Disney Plus’s monthly rate will increase to $10 on Oct. 17.
