Horrific games and an enticing prize are back in a new teaser trailer for Squid Game season 2.
Netflix unveiled the 45-second preview during its Geeked Week 2024 Live fan event on Thursday in Atlanta. The trailer reunites Gi-hun (Emmy winner Lee Jung-jae) with the game he survived in season 1 and shows new players walking into a space with two giant, multi-colored circles on the ground. Season 2 premieres later this year on Dec. 26.
In addition to Lee, season 2 will include returning cast members Lee Byung-hun (the Front Man), Wi Ha-jun (detective Hwang Jun-ho) and Gong Yoo (the Recruiter), according to Netflix’s Tudum site. Newcomers include Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri and Won Ji-an.
The South Korean thriller’s first season appeared in 2021 and saw desperate people compete in deadly children’s games for the chance to win a massive monetary prize. Hwang Dong-hyuk, who won an Emmy for directing season 1, directs, writes and produces season 2. Netflix has already renewed the series for a third season, which will be the last one and is scheduled to air in 2025.
