Florida Gators lead for SEC legacy recruit Chancellor Campbell

Florida has been a hot topic on many fronts early on in the 2024 season, including with recruits through a trio of home games.

One of those frequenting the swamp, Chancellor Campbell, was back in Gainesville on Saturday and he continues to value what Billy Napier’s program is selling on the trail.

In fact, the Gators are pacing the recruitment of the massive offensive tackle out of St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood High School.

“My experience was amazing,” Campbell told Rivals. “Although the outcome was not was what I was expecting, it doesn’t change my mind on the team and the coaches. And I think it’s big that they brought in another OL coach (Jonathan Decoster) that used to coach in the NFL.

“Love the university and the academic buildings. I’ve lived in Florida all my life and Florida has always held a special place in my heart.”

The hot seat status of Napier has not deterred the coveted junior from calling the program his top option despite offers in the SEC and ACC.

“Those rumors don’t change my feelings about the university,” he said.

Campbell spent time with UF assistants while in Gainesville this time around.

“The just checked in on how I was doing,” he said. “They talked about what I did good on film and what I could do better. Just the normal things.

“I just liked the atmosphere of the fans and the traditions they have there, too.”

The 2026 standout, who helped LHS to a pair of wins over their first three outings, is not set on a decision timeline or his next unofficial visit just yet.
