The Atlanta Braves are adding some depth to their infield after acquiring Cavan Biggio in a minor-league trade with the San Francisco Giants for cash considerations.
The former Toronto Blue Jays infielder joined the Giants on a minor-league deal with San Francisco back on Aug. 24 and reported to the Giants Triple-A affiliate in Sacramento.
In 12 games with Sacramento, Biggio hit .163/.413/.326 with two home runs and six RBI.
Biggio was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in June after he was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays. The Dodgers then released Biggio in order to make room in the lineup for Freddie Freeman.
In 74 games in the majors this season, the left-handed-hitting utility player is hitting .197/.316/.306 with five home runs and 70 strikeouts.
