Users on TikTok are expressing concern for a popular Amish TikToker after she posted a cryptic last video on the platform.

Sarah Joy, better known as @thatplaingirl on TikTok, has amassed more than half a million followers, documenting her life as an Amish Mennonite in West Virginia.

‘This is the last TikTok I am making while I’m still in the community,’ Joy begins the video.

‘It has been very nice getting to know all of you and I appreciate the opportunity that you have given me to talk about the community.

‘I wish you all well’

The caption of the video read, ‘I deeply apologize if I have offended anyone for stepping outside of the community guidelines’.

Users on TikTok expressed grave concern for Joy as her usually cheerful and hopeful demeanor was masked by a hostage-like, fearful disposition.

‘Sarah joy I will come pick you up right now,’ commented a user, fearful for the content creator.

‘Okay now I am so so worried,’ commented another.

‘She looks terrified. I hope she’s okay and didn’t get caught,’ chimed a third.

‘The look to the side, someone else was standing there. She was visibly afraid,’ observed a user, referencing Joy’s uncomfortable and nervous body language.

The Mineral County Emergency Management Office told DailyMail.com that they have been inundated with calls about Sarah Joy, concerned for her wellbeing, and that the Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the situation.

They also said the only way to contact Joy was through her P.O. box in Fort Ashby. The office said they tried calling the post office, but they were closed.

Another escaped Amisk TikTok creator, who goes by The Misfit Amish, claimed that someone has made direct contact with Sarah Joy, and that she is physically safe. However, the creator said joy ‘has asked everybody to please not call a welfare check, it would endanger her at this point’

Joy has given her audience an inside look at her day to day – sewing her own clothes, making homemade meals, playing guitar, and joking about her abnormal upbringing.

Aside from her light-hearted content, she has also exposed the dark side of Amish culture, citing the domestic and sexual abuse crisis in her community, violent encounters she has experienced herself, and the mental health epidemic of Amish women who don’t have an escape.

Her platform has served as a safe space for Amish survivors who have since left their community in search of a safer existence.

The violence against women in the Amish community is not a secret. DailyMail.com has previously reported on the arrest of Shawn Cranston for allegedly murdering pregnant Rebekah Byler in her home earlier this month.

Neighbors of Cranston, while shocked at his double homicide charges, were still hesitant to comment on the situation.

‘We like to keep things among ourselves. We’re not talking to protect the parents and the husband,’ an Amish told DailyMail.com.
