Notorious Sydney rapper Ali ‘Ay Huncho’ Younes has been arrested along with 14 others following police raids targeting the Alameddine crime network.

Younes was arrested early on Wednesday morning as part of investigations into an alleged dial-a-dealer drug network across Sydney’s southwest.

Detectives had already shut down 26 phones allegedly being used for drug runs, which were connected to more than 50,000 customers.

Some of those customers received a text from NSW Police which read: ‘The NSW Police Force: Strike Force Wessex has identified this number engaging with an organised crime drug supply ‘dial-a-dealer’ phone.

‘If this continues you may be subject to further investigation. Cease all contact now.’

Younes makes ‘drill rap’, a subgenre which is filled with references of using weapons like knives, hammers and guns on members of rival gangs from opposing postcode suburbs.

NSW Police Deputy Commissioner David Hudson said Wednesday’s arrests eliminated what was left of the Alameddine crime network.

‘Today’s operation has cleaned up what was left of them on our shores,’ he said.

Cops claim the traditional code of silence around criminal gangs is being upturned by a new generation of youths seeking social media fame.

‘It’s (drill rap) is used to gain notoriety, the basis is unless you’ve actually done the crime you can’t sing or rap about it,’ Strike Force Raptor commander Jason Weinstein said.

Younes is yet to be charged.
