Elite 2027 ATH Jamier Brown commits to Ohio State
Another elite playmaker is heading to Ohio State.
Class of 2027 athlete Jamier Brown announced on Saturday that he is committing to Ohio State. The Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne standout holds over 20 scholarship offers. The Buckeyes mostly won out over Notre Dame, Penn State, and Maryland.
The Buckeyes’ newest commit tells Rivals that he will be back in Columbus for the rivalry game with Michigan.
WHAT BROWN MEANS TO OHIO STATE
What a way to kick off the 2027 recruiting class for the Buckeyes. Locking up the best player in the state this early takes a lot of pressure off the recruiting staff on the front end. They’ll have to fight to hold onto him because he’s an elite player but a top-10 player in the nation while he’s a sophomore is big.
Brown was the first 2027 player in Ohio to receive and offer from the Buckeyes. He landed that offer after performing well in front of the coaches at one of Ohio State camps last summer.
WHAT BROWN BRINGS TO THE BUCKEYES
Electric speed.
That’s what Brown will bring to the Buckeyes’ offense. He is a phenomenal track talent, posting a 10.51 100-meter time as a freshman. He also won a state title and set a new national record in the 60-meter dash for freshman with a time of 6.75 seconds. So wide receivers coach Brian Hartline will find a way to utilize that speed in the Buckeyes’ offense.
There is some debate among different schools and evaluators if Brown actually has a higher ceiling on defense. Brown has the length, speed and ball skills to make a big impact in the secondary.
Right now, he’ll get his shot to join the long line of Buckeyes’ receivers under Hartline who have had great college careers and played in the NFL.
